Is there such thing as too much plant coverage?

Button, my russian tortoise, has been doing very well in his 8x8 outdoor enclosure. However, the plants are pretty tall, and though he does graze, he doesn’t eat enough to keep in trimmed. He seems to be doing fine and navigates well enough, but should I trim it back down to being short? Or is having this much cover preferable?7D7B95D5-02CC-4939-BC52-8F5D4FAEBA1D.jpeg7D33DE78-0B0D-4916-87B7-4D84BC0EB78D.jpeg7123F2A0-E345-4CB7-84FF-47AF78818129.jpeg

Maybe take a weed whacker/strimmer and thin down one small area. Your tort might actually like nibbling on shorter rather than longer blades of grass. I know our Sully prefers short grass & the roots rather than foot long tall blades.

You could take him out and weed eater a perimeter around the outside edge, leaving him a lush island in the center.
I often trim mine as well.
I reccomend removing them first because you don't ALWAYS see them hiding
