I'm still looking for an ornata luteola. I'm pretty sure this one is, but I'd like someone to confirm it for me please. (It's the third one down - image 3.) Thanks!

Nope I'm afraid it's a Terrapene ornata ornata. T.o.luteola has 11 to 14 rays on the 2nd coastal scute.

How many do you count? (I just want to make sure I'm counting the same as you are.)

I'm counting 9 With 9 it's inbetween so most likely a cross between the 2 subspecies and probably from western Texas.

Danny - can you tell me where I can find more information about ornata luteola? For example, how do you know that the second coastal scute has 11 to 14 rays? I would like to learn more about this species and I am findling very little about how luteola is different from ornata. Thank you!

Yes Anfi she is a T.o.ornata

I've just found the information all over Kimber. You might want to do a google search of T.o.luteola. You should find some good information from that.
