Nope I'm afraid it's a Terrapene ornata ornata. T.o.luteola has 11 to 14 rays on the 2nd coastal scute. :D

How many do you count? (I just want to make sure I'm counting the same as you are.)

I'm counting 9 :D With 9 it's inbetween so most likely a cross between the 2 subspecies and probably from western Texas.

Danny - can you tell me where I can find more information about ornata luteola? For example, how do you know that the second coastal scute has 11 to 14 rays? I would like to learn more about this species and I am findling very little about how luteola is different from ornata. Thank you! :)

Yes Anfi she is a T.o.ornata :)

I've just found the information all over Kimber. :p You might want to do a google search of T.o.luteola. You should find some good information from that.
