YEs it I saw my dad says that I should take the wire Mets top off that it is easier to clean and to keep it off but I have two dogs and the one jumps up on the couch and watches my tortoise and things it is a rabbit and really want some to get it so could someone that knows what they are talking about chime in.

Think of the lid as a Life Insurance Policy for your tortoise. Cheap, easy, and lets you sleep soundly at night.

Yeah., the lid is a good idea all around if your dogs can reach the tortoise

The dogs will chew up your tortoise if they feel like it, so why invite them to do so? Absolutely keep a lid on it - a strong one!

Dog should never be where it can get your tortoise.
Even some lids will not keep a persistent dog out.
Put the tortoise in an area the dog cant get too before it becomes a chew toy and dies.

From personal experience, please use a lid. Our malamute decided he wanted to play with our tortoise one day. Thankfully, she’s ok after a round of abx and lots of TLC!

Absolutely protect the tortoise. My dogs have zero access to my tortoise. I even put a wire and concrete barrier on their side of the common fence between their yard and Beasley's pen.
