Hi,

Please help ID and sex this tort (possibly age too). SCL is 5 1/2 ".
First I thought she was an ibera. Then I saw a picture of Danny's Lebanese male that looked a lot like this one. Then I saw a picture of Chris' on other forum which might or might not be ibera.. And whole bunch of other pictures. I am utterly confused. My final guess is : ibera, female, about 5 years old. Also, if female, is she anywhere close to breeding age?

Im going to go with Antakyan and male. Antakyan because her 5th vertebral scute is much wider than the rest of her vertebral scutes. :) As for age, no clue. She is a good looking tort.

Hi Em,
It is a Lebanese T.g.antakyensis and a female. :D She will need to be 6 inches SCL at least to be of breeding size.

My initial thought was female, then I doubted myself!

Thank you guys for the ID and kind words!
Antakyan eh?? What is the distinguishing feature? Wide 5th vertebrate scute? ..but don't they all have wider v5 scute? Would she get big like iberas? She is 5 1/2 inches now. How long will it take for her to get to 6 inches? Would it be hard to find her a mate?

Thanks a billion.

Hi Em,
Only T.g.antakyensis has the wider 5th vertebral scute. All other greek subspecies have the 3rd vertebral scute the widest. They also have yellow on their heads. If you look close they also have a small split nail on the end of their tales, more prominent in males.
Males are out there Em. :D
