I love Aldabra tortoises

I love Aldabra tortoises I want to get one I saw one up for sale at a reptile show.

I don't recommend it unless you have a very large yard and mild winters.

I think Greg (Aldabraman) has the best area for Aldabran tortoises. I'll have to ask him sometime what the winter is like there.

Yes he does. I read his postings. Nice!

:tort: They are very nice, anything under 55f we put ours under heat.

I wonder how he keeps all those guys warm...I was in fla last February and the temps were in the 30*F....those are alot of big boys to keep warm..

I live in Georgia and it gets very cold here. Here is how I keep mine warm--heated shed

That's a beautiful shed, Dave. Sometime when you get a chance, I'd like to see the inside of it (and your tortoises, of course!).

here are a couple shots when it was being built. The smaller side is for redfoots and Squirt (aldabra) has the larger side on the left. shed is 12 x 12 and I insulated all sides and roof then stapled chickenwire all over to hold the insulation in so not to fall on heat lights etc. It has 2 windows and its amazing how much the sun alone coming through them heats up the shed. Last night it hit 30F here and the shed was 65f on the inside this morning. I have a heater i need to adjsut a bit to get it around 70ish. I'll take some new pics and of squirt as well since it has been a while since he has made an appearance here.
