A very warm welcome to the forum!:tort:

If I am not mistaken, Russian torts are the best for beginners, but please do not take my words for granted. Wait till you get answers from the more experienced members here.;)

A Russian Tortoise is a good starter tort . But he will need a 4-8 foot enclosure and a outdoor enclosure for summer . We have good care sheets in the Russian section . I would say stay with one of the smaller ones due to winter housing could get pricey with the larger ones . As long as you do your research I don't see why you couldn't handle any Tortoise .

pancakes are a very awesome tortoises but they're not for beginners. I would start with a Russian if I was you wet your teeth and then decide later on if you want a pancake. salutations by the way
