get out of town! this is awesome!
the necks used to be longer because they had to graze above ground, the shell shape would have naturally reacted to it by bending at the middle inward, hence the saddle back. no matter what they do they will not bring that back because their tortoises are now fed off the ground. like with foxes, after breeding them as pets their ears rounded and they got a smily "I eat very well" face. human intervention, like any intervention leaves its mark, which in spine terms i think is an improvement in this case.
