Would it be possible that a tortoise could be a hybrid of K. erosa and K. homeana? My one male is making me wonder. He definately has the behind of a Home's, lol, but his head is yellow rather than blue grey and it is narrower than the other's...

Any opinions?

I've seen Home's hingebacks with bright yellow heads, so he's most likely a pure K.homeana. Their heads range from very dark to yellow.
He is nice. :D

I really doubt that it is a hybrid. The variation in head color, or other morphological characters can be confusing when you are only seeing a couple of individuals. But the two tortoises in the photo are the same species.

Thanks :) This is my first experience with them, and in searching photos it just happened that all of the homeana I saw had blue grey heads and all the erosa that I saw had yellow heads.

I am glad that you guys feel he is pure homeana. I am really hoping for breeding success with these torts!
