Hi guys,
I’ve just got back from uni and noticed that our tortoise has a chip at the back of his shell, above his back left leg. It looks red where the chip has occurred, and got kind of dirty - I’ve removed the dirt where I can but he’s an awful wriggler! Anything I can do?

No, once a shell has chipped off like that it stays gone. Nothing to worry about.

Update: I’ve put a small plaster over the entire chip, so that he doesn’t get dirt in it at all. Is there any antibiotic I can put on?

I’m more worried about the red that’s showing, the red dot that looks like an actual wound (so I put a plaster over it so he doesn’t get dirt in it). Are there any creams I can put on? Or should I just monitor him?

Neosporin or its generic would be a good choice. Don't use the "pain relief" version. Do you know how he did it or what he rammed into? If it's something you can fix or file down, fix it so he doesn't do this again.
