How to dispose of a spent MVB?

I have an old Mercury Vapor Bulb that is probably spent and needs to be disposed of. I'm ASSUMING it has actual mercury in it, which seems like it would make it an environmental hazard if not disposed of properly.
I really do NOT want to just put it in the trash so that it gets dumped in the local landfill, but even before the coronavirus lockdown my area (and most of south Louisiana, as far as I can tell) has precious little in the way of proper disposal of environmental toxins like mercury.

So my question is this: HOW do I dispose of a spent mercury vapor bulb?
Or do I will it to my family and hope that 50 years from now there is better recycling for toxic waste? (JUST KIDDING on willing it to family!!! ?:) )

I take my fluorescent bulbs and MVBs to the recycling center.

Home Depot, Lowes, or Batteries Plus Bulbs may. They take CFL, but MVB aren't listed so it'd be up to the individual store. You can try https://earth911.com/ to see if anywhere else pops up near you.
When I was working at Lowes, we did have an MVB, FLORESCENT recycling bin.
But, finding an associate that knows about it might be a challenge.

I guess I can ask for a manager, if the associate doesn't know.
Thanks, Ed! :) :<3:

The Earth911 site is really cool! They could not come up with any recycling places anywhere near me, but they've got lots of other interesting stuff. Thanks for the suggestion!
I'll try Lowe's tomorrow.

I dropped a big one on the floor and it broke just threw it out.

P.S mercury is tasty.

The manager would probably know.
Many of the associates are now outside hired contactors.
Way to go, Lowes!
