How much should I feed my Russian?

I have 2 habitats for my daughter's little guy. Both are large Rubbermaid containers with mesh tops. One is inside and one is outside.

I planted hydroponic lettuce in the outside container and he's eaten 1 1/2 of the very large heads in 4 days. Is that too much or can I expect he will eat when he's hungry? (He also ate 3 strawberries and 2 cherry tomatoes during those 4 days. He likes red food.)

Thanks for any thoughts!

Hello, and welcome to the forum. He needs a variety of food to be healthy. Fruit and tomatoes should only be Fed rarely as a treat. Weeds and leaves should be the majority of the diet. With a healthy diet, he can eat as much as he wants with plenty of exercise. The enclosures sound a bit small. Check out the Russian specific section for enclosure and food ideas. There is a really great list of edible plants in the Sulcata care guide. You would ignore the grass and hay for your Russian.
