Hi I am Rylee and today I am getting a box turtle! and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how you change the soil? I now that they will be doing there business in it so I don't no how to clean it.
How do I change the soil for my turtle?

I only change my substrate about once a year. You pick up all the old, not eaten food daily, and if you see any poop, you pick that up daily too. In fact, I just got through changing the substrate in one of my baby leopard enclosures:

First of all, I put the tortoises into a soaking tub in the kitchen sink, then I removed all the "furniture", plants, cave, etc. and set it aside. Then I took a spatula and scooped out all the substrate into a big dish pan and discarded it into the flower bed. I wiped the inside down with a moistened paper towel. Then I put everything back, and gave it a good spraying with water,.
