how active should a 5 month old tortoise be?

Just wondering because he mostly digs a little bit into the ground and chills there for the entire day unless I pick him up and take him out of his enclosure (then he becomes much more curious and starts exploring). But other than that he only moves to eat while in his enclosure. is this normal behaviour?

baby torts sleep a lot just like human babies lol! how big is your enclosure for him? how hot is his cage? can you post some pics maybe?

Very normal. As they get older they become less skittish and sleep less. Mine now come out of their hide when they hear my voice. They are roughly around 1.5 years

Yes. Normal. If I didn't pick my 5 month old up I don't think he'd ever move at all.
