HI all,

Has anyone ever purchased a plastic hide box that has a recessed top that allows for a ceramic pottery tray. You can pour water into it and it soaks the pottery and creates a more humid hide? Pros/Cons? thanks

I'm sure it's more costly then its worth. Besides as it goes for hatchlings the whole enclosure needs to be humid. Just a humid hide will not prevent pyramiding.

I see your point but this will be used for adults. They actually are only $14

I think it would help raise humidity in the enclosure if there is a solid lid on the enclosure. But I don't think it would do enough. The substrate still would need dampening.

Of course you could put a tort safe aquatic plant in it and it would look pretty. ???

Wow that's cheap. As long as it's big enough for an adult and you realize more would be needed then just that hide if used for hatchlings.
It sure couldn't hurt.
If you try it, keep track of the humidity inside it using it only as it's meant to be used and let us know how well it works.

Thanks. These are small and they make bigger ones. They would be used for my Egyptian tortoises, which are inherently small.

I did not know that you could buy this type of thing commercially. A member here did a DIY version a few years ago:

Thank you for that. I might try that instead. This will allow for bigger pots
