Hey - Jane from Brooklyn - 1 sulcata and 1 russian

I have had my tortoises for around 8 years. They just starting fighting. The sulcata climbs on top of the Russian and tries to bit his head. I'm thinking of giving the sulcata away. Any advice. They always got along, but it is very hot here in Brooklyn. They have plenty of room outside. A dog house and a pool.

Are your Sulcata and russian housed together? Mixing species is never good. How old are they?

Russians are one of the smallest species and Sulcatas are some of the biggest, the size difference is very large. Could we see some pictures?

If they are 8 yrs the Sulcata should have a very large outdoor enclosure and the Russian a 8ft by 4ft enclosure. Read these.

Are your Sulcata and russian housed together? Mixing species is never good. How old are they?

They are about 7 and 8 years old. I had the Russian for about a year before I got the Sulcata.

They should not be housed together, read the care sheets, they will really help you. Separate them immediately it would really help if we could see some pictures. Best wishes!

Separate them immediately before the sulcata kills the russian!!!
