I have had my tortoises for around 8 years. They just starting fighting. The sulcata climbs on top of the Russian and tries to bit his head. I'm thinking of giving the sulcata away. Any advice. They always got along, but it is very hot here in Brooklyn. They have plenty of room outside. A dog house and a pool.

If they are 8 yrs the Sulcata should have a very large outdoor enclosure and the Russian a 8ft by 4ft enclosure. Read these.

They should not be housed together, read the care sheets, they will really help you. Separate them immediately it would really help if we could see some pictures. Best wishes!

At 8 years old a Sulcata tortoise should be close to 50 - 100lbs. Your housing a Tortoise this big with a small Russian Tortoise? Are you sure you have a Sulcata? Can you post pictures?
