Hi, we have gone through all the prep of hibernating our tortoise and we placed them in the fridge yesterday afternoon in double card board boxes with shredded paper.

However, they are still moving and scratching. The fridge is reading 3.9.

Is it normal that they move a little for a few days or should they pretty much instantly go quiet?

Thanks

I cooled mine slowly in their enclosure, so they were pretty much asleep when I put them in the fridge. I am not sure what answer to give. Let's tag @Tom n see what he says.

How long was your prep time and what did you do?

Mine move around a small amount for a few days, but then they settle down and stop moving around pretty quickly at 3.9C.

2 weeks bathing and stopped feeding. 2 more weeks no food and no baths, bringing temp and lighting down slowly daily
