I found this guy a few days ago, not being an expert, I'm not sure what it is. Everyone wants to tell me it's this or that, but nothing matches.

No discernable markings. Definitely no yellow.

Front feet were not webbed.

Since she was laying eggs, or seemed to be, I didn't want to disturb her too much.

She was near a pond and the images were in a very sunny place.

She moved away from the water when she was done.

Looks like a red ear slider.

Considering that the shell has a patina of old algae and the legs and head are hidden.
I'd say that it might come down to a guess.
So here's mine:
Red eared slider or Cooter.
Maybe one of our water turtle gurus can chime in.
I would agree with the cooler, but it had no yellow on it, I haven't found an image like that and I don't know enough honestly

Agree it’s a cooter, which one will depend on exact location.

I agree cooter. Looks like you can make out vertical striping on the costals. That would be floridana. Also with the face marking I see, I would say it is Pseudeyms concinna floridana. Your avatar says N GA which would tend to expect P c concinna if NW GA. But it looks like P c floridana to me and that would be more likely in NE GA

as an aside... once a turtle has started to lay eggs, it is virtually impossible to disturb it. I've moved them, counted eggs, then moved them back and they just keep on. While first digging the nest, you can certainly disturb them.

Thank you all for the help.

I'm going to do some research on them just out of curiosity to know more.
