Some clear photos of the turtle all over and a detailed description of your set up and feeding routine would be helpful.

as for set up, it's pretty basic. i plan to add more once i can add more water. i have a 55 gallon right now filled about 1/3 of the way (bc we are getting carpets redone). has a large basking area with UVB and heating lamp. a few rocks and one large plant that have been there for months. diet consists of pellets, cranberries, and dried mealworms/shrimp. my turtle refuses to eat veggies but ive been working on that. ive been feeding my turtle this food for almost 4 months now.

shell is the same as it's always been. i just looked it over and it's all normal, no open spots, no cracks, no discoloration

@ecturtle Where are you located? Is that Portland Maine? We don't see many Eastern Painted turtles on the west coast, so I was curious. Looks like it may have a bit of Midland Painted in it as well, but hybrids are very common.

Your turtle looks very healthy and like it is doing very well.

Did your power go out? It almost looks like the build up debris from your tubing poured out into the tank. Or if you just cleaned the filter and then turned the power back on. I have a red eared slider that does shed more during growth spurts but that just looks like tubing gunk.

Also, I don’t know if you feed your turtle in the tank but it’s best to have a separate feeding container so that you don’t have so much debris to begin with. I have a huge food grade plastic basket from Amazon that I feed Talulah in each morning. She eats and then poops in there (not in her tank... unless I’m late getting up) each morning.

Yes! but my turtle doesn't like eating in a separate tank. she eats just fine in her tank but when it comes to a seperate tank she wont touch anything but the junkie snacks.
