Hi, i noticed our Russian tortoise has a dark green spot on his shell. The shell is not soft to the touch or raised there. But I see a line that looks like a surface scratch near by. Could the green be a bruise? He's been really active and feisty lately...

Plastron is in good condition, skin as well.

Thanks in advance for the help!

It looks like a piece of dried lettuce stuck to the shell. Have you tried to scrub or pick it off? I really doubt it's anything to worry about. (nice-looking tortoise!)

I'm guessing its a "grass" stain. Try to rub it off during the next soak.

I know of no tortoise killing disease that has a green spot on the shell as one of its symptoms. :)
