I rescued 4 tortoises that the person did not know if they were Hermans or Russian tortoise.
I have had them for a while now and want to find out which spices they actually are. The pics are a top and bottom of each tortoise. If anyone can help identifying them I would gladly appreciate it thank you in advance for any help.

They all look like Russian Tortoises (Agrionemys horsfieldii) to me. Most Russian Tortoises have only 4 claws on their front feet. I cannot see all of their feet in these photos, but you can check them for that characteristic and if they have just 4 claws on the front feet, you can be pretty sure that is what you have.

If any have 5 claws on their front feet, let us know.

Thank you Yvonne, looked up both spices but can be a little confusing for someone who never kept tortoises.

They all look like Russian Tortoises (Agrionemys horsfieldii) to me. Most Russian Tortoises have only 4 claws on their front feet. I cannot see all of their feet in these photos, but you can check them for that characteristic and if they have just 4 claws on the front feet, you can be pretty sure that is what you have.

If any have 5 claws on their front feet, let us know.
