He was in a box.. we have done the same with him the passed 9 years.. we are all gutted. He's my parents tortoise so not exactly sure on species. He doesn't seem floppy at all .. no smell

No resistance with his legs at all.. his eyes seem a little sunk aswell. I have read about a coma state. So don't want to assume he's passed. We have him in the warm now

Try putting him in a lukewarm soak. Hold his head up. And yes, keep him warm.

I know the shock...I had a desert tort die in hibernation last Spring. It's horrible! I'm so sorry.

They can be close to dead and come back, so you are doing the right things.

I've put him in like warm water but nothing .. I can see his eye balls still glassy but quite sunk.. he isn't stiff but his back feet look quite flat. We are trying everything but I do think he's gone.
Is that coma state people talk about rare or does it happen often

I don't think it happens often, but we have a member who almost buried a "dead" tort. She woke up on him, thankfully before she was in the ground.

Now we recommend keeping them for at least 24 hours. Does he have an indoor enclosure? Or a box, and put a light bulb on it for some heat. Around 29-30°C.

Gasses leave the body with death, but it could also be a good sign. Either way.

Have you checked his nostrils? Just make sure they don't look blocked.

Maybe pump his legs a bit. That helps air go into the lungs.
His nostrils do look a little blocked. I've just pumped his legs and put him back under the lamp. I will leave him for a bit and keep checking on him. His body is quite warm and eyes still a bit glassy so fingers crossed. Thanks for your help. I will keep you posted
