I think my tortoise has passed away. He is unresponsive .. (checking on him while still in hibernation)
Is there any resistance if you gently pull a leg?
Where was he for hibernation? In a fridge or a burrow? A box?
What species of tort is he?
I've put him in like warm water but nothing .. I can see his eye balls still glassy but quite sunk.. he isn't stiff but his back feet look quite flat. We are trying everything but I do think he's gone.Try putting him in a lukewarm soak. Hold his head up. And yes, keep him warm.
I know the shock...I had a desert tort die in hibernation last Spring. It's horrible! I'm so sorry.
They can be close to dead and come back, so you are doing the right things.
His nostrils do look a little blocked. I've just pumped his legs and put him back under the lamp. I will leave him for a bit and keep checking on him. His body is quite warm and eyes still a bit glassy so fingers crossed. Thanks for your help. I will keep you postedGasses leave the body with death, but it could also be a good sign. Either way.
Have you checked his nostrils? Just make sure they don't look blocked.
Maybe pump his legs a bit. That helps air go into the lungs.
I've left my mums she's home from work now in 30 mins .. she's going to check on him then.Be careful you do not over heat him.
So very sorry. Hope you get a good outcome.
Unfortunately most tortoises we lose to death go unanswered. Again so very sorry.I've left my mums she's home from work now in 30 mins .. she's going to check on him then.
I fear the worst to be honest. Just don't know how it's happened
Still the same.. sadly I think we have lost him. XxUpdate?
I've had my hopes up all day but he's still the same sadly. Thanks for asking though.. much appreciated xxI am so sorry, I am hoping that all will turn out, its so hard...
