Hi all,

I am about to acquire some Hermann's tortoises and want to be able to sustainably grow my own food for them. I have planted some dandelion and have some petunia growing at the moment but am now thinking of planting some wildflowers and using some larger plants as decoration.

I just have a few questions that I would really like a knowledgeable person on the forum to answer if possible!

1) I have purchased a spider plant from the garden centre which I checked on the tortoise table website was OK for the tortoises. I also asked in shop that they do not spray pesticides on any of the plants and instead rely on biological pest control. Do you think this is OK to place straight into the tortoise table or not? Should I replant the spider plant or trim it back before putting it in?
2) I only have inorganic compost to use at the moment to grow my newly purchased weed seeds and wildflower seeds. Is this OK to use with the plants?

I hope anyone can help if possible!

Tom
