Hey guys! So I really want to start getting a good supply of food for the winter for my Russian tort. I bought the testudo seed mix from tortoise supply a couple months ago and after two attempts to grow these weeds, I came out unsuccessful. I'm probably the only person on this site who can't grow this weed mix lol. I saw someone post about having a small indoor greenhouse and thought that might help? If you have any suggestions for some fairly cheap brands I'd love to hear! Also, any advice on how to keep plants alive would be nice too

Get a clear plastic container with a clear plastic lid. There is your green house. Get some good potting soil without pesticides or germicides, etc, and put it in the container. I would put about 3-4 inches of it. Water really well and put lid on it but leaving some of it not covered so hear can ex scape and set outside in the sun. If it gets cold at night, cover it and bring it in at night. Be sure to keep it watered, but not soaked.

Also, is too much heat a problem when trying to grow the testudo mix?

I haven't grown the Testudo mix, but have grown lots of other things. I believe @DawnH is growing this right now. She might have some thoughts. Also Tom has made a whole thread about it. He makes it look like MAGIC:) http://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/tortoisesupply-com-testudo-seed-mix-thread.71890/

Awww yes. The Testudo mix is about to drive me to drink. I replanted this 2.5 months ago and it is a very slow grower. I am into instant gratification so this has been a lesson in patience for me...lol. I will try and take a photo when the sun comes up. Tom's thread is what got me excited and I am not getting near the amazing results that he did. Total bummer but it IS growing.

Heat and sun are great but you need to keep those seeds plump with moisture. When we had our 100 degree weather I would water three times a day to make sure they didn't dry out. Once dry they won't come back.
