We have had Calvin our T.G.A. for a year now...and he is fantastic!
He is an adult (maybe about 8 years old).

He never chews on anything hard though...no calcium blocks, mineral blocks, rocks, cuttlefish etc.

But so far his little beak looks the same as the day we brought him home.

I am worried if he is not wearing it down I will have to trim it.

Any ideas to get him to chew on hard surfaces?

Thanks
Colleen

Feeding the right diet and good fiberous food will keep his beak trim. I hardy ever get beak problems with mine.

Another thing to think about: If they have to actually bite off pieces of food it helps to keep the beak worn down. Some folks make the mistake of always chopping up the food into bite-sized pieces. Its better to leave it in large pieces so they have to bite it off. Grazing and foraging is also good for beak health.

That's good to know...I chopped everything tiny tiny when we first got him...not anymore...so maybe that is part of his nice sized beak too:)
