Hi, been making (and trying to make) calls to certain places to ask them about their redfoots but anyways... can you guys reccommend some good, "non sketchy" places to order captive bred redfoots, both adults and younger ones? Right now I am thinking I am going to get whatever I decide to get from theturtlesource.com They seem to have a really good selection, etc. But I am having a hard time getting ahold of them. What do you guy's think of this place? Thanks :)

I've never bought anything from him, but Tyler is a member here and retailer who actually does post to threads once in a while, which gives me a little faith, I've been thinking about doing business with him.

http://www.tortoisesupply.com/

last I checked he had captive bred redfoots listed as in-stock.

I always have hatchlings availible for those in the Sacramento California area. I don't ship animals at this time but let me know if you or anyone else is in the area and wants a baby Northern. :)

Since I live in Canada, I've never dealt with American vendors such as theturtlesource.com. :( It's a real shame, because from what I've read they have high quality chelonians that are at a good price. The breeder, Marc, has lots of redfoots and other tortoises as well.

Turtletary is more of a redfoot specialist, and he has some nice RF's and cherryheads. He also has some serrated hingebacks (Kinixys erosa) and Indian stars if you're interested.

And don't forget Vicky:

She's not a member here, but raises pretty nice baby redfoots.

I got my little Maui from Vicky. She was great to work with, and you get to "handpick" your tort. Plus, she does her best to help you in any way possible. I emailed back and forth with her quite a bit and asked her to let me know who the most outgoing ones in the herd were and she sent me back a list of 3 torts she thought would fit and out of that I picked Maui. I can't recommend her enough.

My favorite part was that I was dealing with a person and not a company that breeds and sells redfoots. It just really made the whole experience of buying my first hatchling a positive one in every way.

I bought my Hermann from turtlesource.com and have been happy with the results. His care sheets are old-school, though, so my care practices have evolved a lot since joining this forum. Good luck to you and I hope whichever redfoots you end up getting a strong, healthy, and delightful!

Vicky with Tortoise Yard is super nice and will definitely answer any questions, as well as Tyler with Tortoise Supply.

When I have the means, time, and space for a leopard tortoise. I'll be getting one from one of those two breeders.

I have purchased several turtles and tortoises from Theturtlesource. I have never had a single issue. The quality of the animal to the packaging it comes in is top notch. Marc is difficult to get a hold of. Try him first thing in the morning or late in the day. Or leave him a message and he WILL call you back.

Well I went with Vicki :) Won't be getting my tort until sometime in March tho. It is the center cherryhead redfoot reserved by me, Adam.

That great. Isn't she the nicest lady? Very cute tort as well.

Waiting 'till march is going to be tough though. :)
