These are photos from my trip to the Galapagos in 2010:

This is what it looked like at eye level where we started to encounter torts.


Many of them were in the natural wallows they create:



And I got a couple grazing pics:




We encountered the tortoises on land that was used to grow 'shade grown' coffee. I wish I had taken more photos of the breeding center there...

It was amazing, I was nearly in shock at times. It is something else to be around wild animals that do not have an innate fear of humans.
