went for a walk this morning to my favorite box turtle finding spot. It’s a wet boggy area in the middle of a large hardwood forest. It’s sunny and getting upto 80 today so I figured I’d give it a try. I ended up finding 1( an old mature male)in a area that I find a few every year. Took a pik and sent him on his way I’m assuming he was out looking for ladies.

Yes she is mine a female( my guess) eastern box turtle. Still a juvenile. All I kno about her was she was found on a rd then given to someone else who didn’t want her anymore so I took her in. So my son named her roady

Very nice. We have no indigenous turtles or tortoises here in my area. I'd love to be able to see them in the wild.

Love the shell pattern very similar to my male Eastern. I live in Maryland and even though our state university has the mascot of a terrapin, I’ve never found a wild one walking around during the spring or summer ‍♂️ This species is my favorite due tot he coloring next to the Florida Box Turtle. Here is a couple snapshots of my dude Iggy :)

Afternoon thunderstorms came through today so i decided to take the kids for a walk at one of our local walking trails looking for what ever we could find and ended up finding 2 eastern box turtles on the trail. My son got his first unassisted find with a big male. And about 5 minutes later about 30 yrds away found a female on the trail. We went to check and the male was still were we left him so we grabbed a quick pick and released them a ways off the trail in the same area.
