First time eggs

Hi,

Just after some advice I come home today and found that my tortoise had laid 8 eggs in the garden, I did not expect this. I'm waiting to go to the pet shop in the morning to get sort a incubator. I was just wondering what chance the eggs have. I do not know exactly when they were laid but would not be longer than 3 days ago. Is there anyway I can tell if they are fertile. Any advice would be great.

What species?

Don't rotate the eggs at all. Keep them in the same position. You can gently mark each egg with an "x" and always keep the "x" facing up.

This should help, but be aware that some species need dry media:
