Glad you caught it in time. We lost our first redfoot in 1983 to a house fire.

So glad that you were home, your ordeal has made me realize that I do not
have a smoke detector in my reptile room with the CHE, under tank heaters and cords pretty much every were I will be getting one soon.

I know this is nothing to laugh about, but I'm sorry...the picture of you holding your skirt out in front of you and tossing in the tortoises is just funny to me!!

I'm so glad no one was hurt. Too bad about the asthma attack and hospital bill, but thank goodness it turned out ok. Pretty scary stuff.

I'm sure if I could have seen myself shoving torts in my skirt I'd be laughing now too! :) I couldn't think of any way to get them out faster - got all 17 hatchlings out in one swoop.

My stupid smoke alarm (which is right outside that room in the hallway) never went off. I looked at it today and it was not working at all!

Thank God you were home at the time or this story would have a different ending. Pretty scary indeed.

I am so glad you are okay! How scary! It might be helpful to have a smoke alarm in the tort room.
