Hi. New member here (Bea). I do not have any tortoises yet. Happily, I live in south Louisiana where there's a really good chance my tortoise(s) could live outside much of the year. But I worry about fire ants. We have a real problem with them from time to time. Any experience in keeping fire ants away from tortoise enclosures?

welcome to the forum. make sure whatever outdoor enclosure your going to construct has good walls. and on the outside of those walls use diatomaceous earth it works well. what tortoise are you looking into getting?

Thanks so much!!! I'm probably most interested in box turtles at least for starters because I know they are native to our area, so I figured might be a good "starter" tort for me.
