I finally got my hermann's tortoise! I named her Artemis, I don't know for sure her gender but she has a missing scute so I am assuming female until I am proven otherwise later on. She is 2.5 inches long.
I also have some concerns... The topsoil is extremely moist. The humidity is currently 75%. The cool end is 65 last time I checked, it's probably 70 now. Will she get sick from this?
Another concern I have is she yawned once. She wasn't gasping at all, just slightly opened her mouth and yawned. That's normal right? She sneezed too. She was is a very dry environment with dry substate before today, could that be the cause? Is there anything to worry about?
I keep worrying about her flipping in the water dish but she goes in and out of it like a pro, but I'm still nervous. I put a rock in there incase she ever flips.
Last thing, is it too bright in her enclosure? She has a humid hide and log hide. Should I get an area that is in the open that is darker?
So those are all of my concerns (I think). Anyway, I really like her shell. As I said, she has a missing scute, which I think is really unique.
Here are the enclosure pictures;
Also her humid hide
