Last week my female eastern box turtle laid 5 eggs for me. At first I thought most were infertile, but within 48 hours they all started to turn white, which is also called "banding" or "chalking over." This is a good indictor that the eggs are fertile.

Here you can see the eggs are starting to turn a nice white color in the Hovabator incubator.

Wow Patrick, that looked like a nasty wound once. Glad she made it. And congrats on your eggs. Oh, your male is beautiful. I thought only females had red eyes?

I was told that she was WC years ago with this healed wound, which is a amazing to me.

I also have another red eyed female. Here's a few more pics of that healed injury.

Great news and pictures Patrick :D I'm glad she's doing well and laying more eggs for you.
Robyn it's males that have red eyes and females do every once in a while. ;)

Thanks for straightening that out for me Danny.
Those are great shots Patrick. Glad to hear after all she's been through she's laying for you.

Great pics patrick. It is amazing what turtles can do. I have one that completely healed herself, and one of the bone pieces that she was healing with actually just fell off, I will have to take some pics.
