extra scutes

one of the redfoots i am getting has an extra scute. i was told this is purely a cosmetic problem. is this true? i have read about split scutes but not extra ones.

yes it is purely cosmetic, its just a deformation on the pattern of the shell :D

split/extra scutes are synonymous and as Ethan said, it's purely cosmetic. I'm a fan of them as they give the torts a unique appearance - 3/4 of mine have split/extra scutes.

It usually indicates a 'burp' in the incubation process. Because the scutes form fairly late, a glitch in them does not indicate a potential problem in other systems.

If anything, just makes the lil guy a bit more unique. Nothing else.
