Why is endive always said to be also known as 'escarole'? They are totally different! Leaves... stem... :(
Does anyone know? :D

There are many types. Look at a seed selling website. I once tried a bunch of them. Torts didn't seem to care which one I fed them. They liked it all.

Ditto to Tom; chicory, endives, escarole, and radicchio are all the same plant botanically. It is open to interpretation, but I think curly endive is as well. Great food source. Lousy coffee substitute.
