Drift wood and logs

So I got a couple pcs of drift wood and a long log for my tank should I treat them with anything? I don't want them to rot and so is there anything to preserve them but keep them safe for a iguana?

Also from my old tank I have a bunch of old fake plants can I just drill a small hole and glue in some old plants is the glue safe?

Wash with bleach and let Sun dry . As long as you use nontoxic glue I don't see a problem. You can treat the wood with a wood sealer .
