Yes. Mine does. There is a little ledge around his enclosure and sometimes he'll stretch his neck out on that and use it as a pillow. :) It is so scary the first few times that you see it. I'm sure they get annoyed when we panic and wake them up. But aren't they cute?

Thank you everyone makes me feel bit more at ease that this is normal ?
Yes it’s a scary process learning about a tortoise but mine uses food and objects as her chin rest. So cute. When she is on my chest she lays her head on a wrinkled up part of my top. Never knew tortoises could be so adorably cute

Sapphire sleeps like that but likes some rocks I have in his enclosure too. He uses them as a pillow.?

Does anyone else’s tortoise sleep like this? He doesn’t half scare me, thought something was wrong first time he did it ?
My female Sulcata sleeps with her neck all the way out and to the side. She also covers her shell with substrate. It looks so weird, but she has always slept that way so must be comfy to her.
