Dex will be three years of age in March. After her burrow incident, (of being down for 2-3 days at a time because it started to get too cold) she's back to her self, and then some. She has very visible growth lines spreading and her eating never ceases to amaze me. She is 13-15 pounds, and almost 13 inches in length.

I recently churned and treated an area for winter food. I am not 100% as to everything I am going to plant. Today, I planted a seed mix of tortoise grazing mix, grass, clover, and dandelions.

Here's some pictures, enjoy.

Sure is a good looking Torts. Three years become 13-15 pounds, and almost 13 inches. WOW. We are looking forward to our Sully to become that big.

She really is beautiful! I love that you are thinking of what food to grow for her. That seems to be part of the fun of owning a tortoise...amazing animal and fun gardening opportunities. :) I'm very very new to tortoise keeping and am unfamiliar with what "growth lines" look like. I'd love to see some up close if you ever have time to take a photo. Thanks!

It totally is one of the fun parts to owning a reptile! I love seeing it grow and knowing it's something completely safe to feed. I get to enjoy some of it as well :). I am on my way over to where they stay right now, so I'll take a picture when I get there (they're half a mile away at my grandmas).

The white lines are the new growth. If it was on the bottom, it might be a light pink.
Thank you so much for taking the time to do that!!! Truly!
I would not have known without seeing it and now have the good news that my own little rescued sulcata is growing too! Hooray! Thanks, again.

Well, I guess she's almost 13 in length. The tape measure was at an angle so it's close to 13. The picture of the greens are her second helping of food today. I got the greens at a farmers market in the bay area that I couldn't pass up for the price! The first was a pile of mallow, and dandelion weeds.

Why thank you, Katherine. She comes from a great gene line. As a side note, Welcome back!

Aww thanks. Having a human baby sucked the life out of me for a while but I'm in a groove now and have time to blog about my shell kids again
