Good news!
My niece who lives up near the Florida "pan handle" wants him.
She already successfully keeps water turtles and I'm going to help her with a suitable closed chamber.
Hopefully she'll become a regular member of the forum as well.
That's great, glad it worked out :)

Today its flickering between 53/54 grams.
More steady weight gains.
He now spends most of the day walking and searching for food.
He walks in left handed circles a lot.
But he IS blind in his right eye.
Now that his skin has healed, I can see his facial injuries better.
When he was younger. A cat or a dog must've gotten hold of him.
He has no right eye. A slit for a functional left eye and a mouth with a missing portion of the beak.
After my back surgery we're going to the vet to see if she can do anything about opening the good eye better. There is some scar tissue that might be removed and see if anything needs to be done with the mouth.
Though he does now bite and tear his own food.
I'm more curious about that eye.
I want him to be able to see as best as he can.
He finds and eats his own food.
All good signs.
I'm now soaking him every other day.

Sounds like he is coming along.
Still no name? You know they made a song about that. The first lyrics go something like this.
I've been thru the desert on a tort with no name.
Maybe you have heard that tune:)

Somehow I missed this thread until now and just read this amazing story! Well done, Ed... and tiny redfoot! I'm looking forward to future posts including vet visit, new home with the niece and the full recovery. Thanks for saving this determined little guy and sharing the story!

Update.
He is now in his first permanent type BIG BOY enclosure with Orchid bark substrate and tera cota plates for food and water.
He's doing ok.
The Orchid bark is still a little large for him. But he crawls around pretty well these days. Still mostly in left hand turns. But not entirely.
He's now pretty heavy for his size. But still a fraction of the size he should be.
I suppose he's going to stay small.

He can feed himself

And look at all that new growth!
That's great! Is that calcium in the dish? Looks different from the calcium I use. I use the one for birds. Yours looks more like a stone. I don't like the hard coating on the back side of the one I use.

That's a mushroom.
I haven't added many supplements to his food.
