Ok
An entire half peice of green Romaine leaf, a slice of Strawberry and a lump of dog food is missing!
My wife swears she didn't touch anything.
So, he seems to be able to take care of business.
I'm still hesitant to place him in a closed chamber with substrate. Because I'm still convinced that he will eat substrate.
It seems he is eating ANYTHING that he encounters.
He's in my wifes "bird room".
It's about 82 degrees and over 75% humid out there.
Its actually an enclosed patio that has walls windows and a door.
Kind of great for animals.

Today I'm having issues with my left eye and the usual back issues. So I'm taking if easy and doing everything with one eye.
Out of laziness I dropped 3 hibiscus flower pedals and some Kale into the small aquarium housing the sickly tortoise.
Before I had time to come back and look....two of the pedals had vanished.
Now all of them and the Kale has disappeared.
I'm not too blind to see that he is eating.
That's great - you are doing a brilliant job with him,Ed
I hope your eye and back are better soon.

Thanks Ed, its been lovely talking to you and following your exploits with your torts for the last 5 years too!
I see we joined within a week of each other - where has that time gone?
How are you feeling today?

I feel fine.
I just wish my body would cooperate.
I find myself with plenty of time. Plenty of projects and nothing getting done.
I have a few of my vehicles for sale because I'm not getting around to doing anything with/for them

Sounds like your rescue is coming along.
Maybe you should try recovering in a aquarium :)
Seriously I hope you feel better.

Update
The vision has been confirmed.
He DOES have some vision.
Today as I was feeding the zoo, I dropped a very green section of Romaine into the little guys enclosure.(it sits on the floor in that particular room)....And I missed the enclosure. The Romaine fell in front of it. Not in it.
As I bent down to pick it up, lots of cussing and cracking noises included, (from me)he raced towards the said lettuce and slammed into the glass.
HE CAN SURELY SEE!
I placed it in front of him and he began chomping like I've never seen.
I then removed a wilted Hibiscus flower from yesterday and noticed that it was actually about half eaten. I had used a perfect flower so that I could examine it for chomp marks.
Well, that's pretty much chomped!
At this point, I think he is improving AHEAD of schedule.

This is great news, Ed! I think he is a fighter, and under your care he will thrive.

As for not getting stuff done, that's what retirement is! You don't have time to do everything. So you lighten the load and pick what's really important to you. Let your body heal. We'll do it together.

I agree with that. Lyn and other members have pulled me back on more than one occasion. I am grateful for Opo and the members here. I would be on a different path. If not for the tortoise community.
Anyways your RF with no name is lucky to have you Ed. Soon Wild Child will teach him the ropes.
RF with no name. I think there is a song with those lyrics :)
