Going a little further….within these cells are “pigments”. These play a major role as to what you and I see in contrast to other animals. Pigments are responsible for reflecting or absorbing different types of wave lengths of light, which gives the appearance of what “colour” you see. A simple example would be viewing an item under sunlight vs. artificial light, which have different spectrums, thus when compared a different colour/hue we see.
