Hello it was recently recommended by a member that I should mabye try using coconut oil on my Russian tortoise and her shell is still shiny after I let it soak in for a hour or so. And even after I tried to wipe it of with a towel and brush it still looks shiney.ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1460225363.109525.jpg

Also I was wondering if the oil prevent uvb intake at all, it's only on her shell.

They take in UV through their skin, so there's no worries about it blocking UV.
Yes, the coconut oil does "polish" their shell. It took about a week for my tort's she'll to stop looking as shiny as it did after I first applied it.
