Coco coir chips?

I just found organic coco coir chips online. Has anyone used them? Are they safe? Also can I use coco coir products ment for planting or should I stick to the stuff I find at the pet store?

I found coco coir the fiber type at a hardware store in a block for 13$

Eco earth is so messy... I want something to put on top of atleast half the enclosure.I don't know why but I have a bad feeling about cypress mulch even though I do see alot of people use it. I know coco coir is good but I'm still learning that it comes in different forms. Are all forms of chemical free Coco coir safe?
