Hi everybody,

I just saw the most peculiar behavior from my RT Yoshi.
Apparently the cuttle bone was the punching bag.

I observed her first eating from it and scratching it.

Then I saw her charging it... really setting herself off from the front legs and bashing into it.
She then went back to biting it... Now she buried herself in the substrate....

A while ago she was bobbing her head at me....

All those behaviors are territorial, and she is quite the feisty lady.

The signs are coming through to me like a positive thing of acclimatizing?
Accepting her new environment and defending it?

Curious to know if you guys have experienced such behavior?

Take care,

Joey

I have not heard of this with a cuttle bone, but it does sound like territorial behavior. Also sounds like a funny thing to watch. Torts are crazy sometimes:D

She was really serious about it too....
When the cuttlebone was bashed to the side she went and dug herself in.

Mistress of her domain :)

It sounds like she thinks her cuttle bone is an unwelcome intruder! Tortoises will this 'dance' (bobbing head, circling, charging) at things they think are other tortoises. Turtle that too, except they flutter their front feet (jazz hands!) at the object.
Sound like a SERIOUS case of mistaken identity! :D

I cant really tell why she did it..
But I observed her bobbing her head at me a few times.

I have seen the fluttering with the front claws with RES but it always was a mating ritual :)

I am curious to see if she does it again, I think she is very territorial, but she still remains a sweety.
One look at that face and I am like * ahw* .

Yep.
Hooked :) haha....
