Hi there! A couple of days ago I pulled up my redfoot's water tray and there were several centipedes/millipedes (idk which & my eyes aren't good enough to count legs/segments haha), under it. I got a couple of them but others scurried away into dirt. This morning I noticed little dirt mounds all over the ground. Digging into a couple of them I found tiny little centipedes/millipedes in them. Can these things hurt my tort? I know NOTHING about these things and want to make sure my tort is safe to come down into her enclosure. Her enclosure is 10x10 but she has a 3x4 box w/ a ramp that allows her to go up & down as she pleases. Should I close off her box so that she can't come down to ground? What should I use to eradicate bugs w/out harming her?? Thank you so much for any advice!

Some centipede species can deliver a nasty bite. Millipedes generally don't.

I'm not familiar with the TX species of these at all, but I'll bet your RF can handle them, and probably eat them if it wanted, unless its a tiny hatchling and the centipedes are huge tropical types. An adult RF shouldn't have any trouble.

I use those same chicken cages from Tractor Supply for my hawks. My parents put two together for their chickens, and are now using one for their little star tortoise. You need a visual barrier around the bottom for tortoises. I just use 12 inch tall strips of thin plywood.

Thank you both for your help! I didn't know I needed a barrier around bottom of it, thank you! She's only 3 years old, I've had her since 6 months old and just recently moved her outdoors permanently. I'll get a 12" border around her this weekend. Thanks again for your advice!
