can tortoises hear?

Stupid question - being an experienced tortoise owner i have always wondered can tortoises hear?
I searched all over the internet and some said yes some said no , some said they detect vibrations but I just dont know thanks -George

I think they do. When I let my tortoises out to walk in the house, they at times went missing. I will cry out their names and they do reappears at times. During feeding them, if they are in the hide, when i called them, they will come out.
