I have tons of stinging nettle growing in my yard as well, but after doing some research I found too much conflicting information. One source said that nettles were a great treat to give to a tort every now and then, but then another source said that torts can eat it, but the leaves must be boiled first to remove the stinging hairs. Ultimately I decided not to bother trying to feed my Russian any, there's just too many uncertainties, and so many other alternatives. I'm far from an expert though, so if someone with more expertise in this matter can weigh in that would be great, I'd really like to know as well.
