Im kind of a newby in raising sulcata tortoise so i would like some help. Would really appreciate it. I got this sulcata when he was a few months old. I have him for about 1 1/2 yr now. He seems to be doing fine. Eats and sleeps well. I take him/her out for sunshine when its warm but would soak him on warm water almost everyday. It use to be really small but is growing pretty fast. Now he is about 5.5 inch. I will include pics of him when he was a baby and pics of him now. I feed him something I bought from the reptile store that looks lik dog food but for reptiles i guess and mix it with some greens like mustard green and calcium powder. I think he is healthy but I just cant tell. So can someone please tell me am I taking care of him the right way? He sleeps a lot, is that good? Can someone also tell me is it a he or she? I don't know how to tell at all.. Thanks!!:D

Hello and welcome.

Still too early to tell the sex. I have some of that age and I can't tell on them either. Your sulcata looks great. Super smooth. Sounds and looks like you got pretty good advice on caring for him/her.

Is the food you are feeding called Mazuri Tortoise Chow? If so, its good stuff.

Hi litowolf26:

Welcome to the Tortoise Forum!!

Your little tortoise is a pretty nice-looking specimen, however I do see one little problem. His beak is not growing correctly. This might be genetic, or it might be because he's not getting enough calcium/vitamin D3.

May we know your name and where you are?
