Can someone help me identify our new addition?

Our new addition to the family farm. We adopted him at the local animal shelter in Southern California. The shelter did not know anything about him except he was “walking with a large Sulcata tortoise on the road”. But the shelter said they couldn’t confirm that. Does the picture help at all. I can take others. Thanks so much.
