My Aldabra (7 inch, 700g) just swallowed a tree bark today, I saw it, and I tried to pull it out from his mouth, but he was too strong and swallowed it. :(

Can my Aldabra digest it? Will it cut the stomach and intestines? :(

thanks for your advice. :tort:

I keep a couple groups of Manouria tortoises. They come from the rain forests in and around Thailand. They eat everything...EVERYTHING!!! Every tree in their pen has been almost girdled by them.

So, the answer to your question is, yes...a tortoise can digest tree bark.

Eat, swallow, and pass bark... yes. Chemically change bark to release nutrients? Not so much but possibly a little bit.
